About Us

Our Mission Statement:

MOVING PICTURES TELLS THE STORIES BEHIND THE MOVIES AND HOW MOVIES AFFECT SOCIETY AND YOU. MOVING PICTURES IS A DISTINCTIVE, SOCIALLY AWARE FILM ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE BUILDING A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE FILMMAKER AND THE AUDIENCE, FOSTERING CREATIVITY AND DYNAMIC DISCUSSIONS ON THE ART AND IMPACT OF MOVIES.

Moving Pictures Magazine provides a balanced social commentary on the most powerful medium today, the world of movies. Movies are first and foremost a form of art - the culmination of the creativity, dreams and talents (or lack thereof) of the filmmaker and the many people who craft a film.

We at Moving Pictures Magazine strive to look at the art of film through a lens that provokes thought, engages you in a discussion with your friends and family and helps bring the film consumer and the filmmaker closer together. No other publication does that today.

If you like what you read, see and experience in the pages of Moving Pictures, then we urge you to become a part of the film forum we are creating-one where movie makers and movie viewers come together to foster creativity, criticism and, we hope, the betterment of all.

Company History

Moving Pictures Magazine is “the stories behind the movies,” as our cover proudly proclaims. We delve into the culture and controversy of film, connecting YOU to the world of Moving or Motion Pictures.

In May 2005, Moving Pictures will be celebrating its Fifteenth Anniversary as a publishing powerhouse in and around film. The Moving Pictures brand began publishing in 1989 at the Cannes Film Festival and Market. It quickly became the most respected international film industry publication through its in-depth news, cutting-edge editorial and daringness to tell it like it is. The Company’s motto was “going places other film magazines fear to tread.”

Then last year, Moving Pictures underwent a major makeover. It launched the prototype for the new Moving Pictures Magazine at Cannes 2004, expanding its coverage and distribution to a wider audience because everyone loves movies and wants to know more about them. We did so while maintaining our editorial independence and integrity, which are the cornerstones of the Moving Pictures brand. The magazine was extremely well received by the international film community, and we began working on the magazine you see today.

Our new and improved publication offers a balanced social commentary on the most powerful medium today, the world of movies. We do not focus on stars’ misfortunes. Our society is saturated with this type of journalism. Movies are first and foremost a form of art. They are the culmination of the creativity, dreams and talents (or lack thereof) of the film maker and the many people who craft a film.

Moving Pictures Magazine looks at the art of film through a lens that provokes thought, engages you in a discussion with your friends and family, and helps bring the film consumer and the film maker closer together. No other publication does that today!

We dig deep into the world of film to expose how your favorite movies are made and, more importantly, why. Then we analyze just how those movies and the far-reaching world of film affects society. We put it all together into a dazzling tapestry of powerful prose, compelling editorial photography and vibrant illustrations.

More than ever, movies affect and shape the world around us. Our goal at Moving Pictures Magazine is to provide an exhilarating forum where the film maker and the film viewer come together in a discussion to understand that world a little better.
